The Branch Annual General Meeting will be held on Wednesday 27 February 2008 in Chelmsford. All branch members are encouraged to attend.

The Branch Committee meets on the morning of the third Thursday of each month. All stewards are automatically members and those employed by Essex County Council are normally entitled to time out of work to do so. Other branch members are welcome to attend. Dates for 2008 are as follows:

  • 10 January
  • 21 February
  • 20 March
  • 17 April
  • 15 May
  • 12 June
  • 17 July
  • 21 August (will only be held if business requires)
  • 18 September
  • 16 October
  • 20 November
  • 18 December

UNISON National Delegate Conference and the National Local Government Service Group Conference take place in June. The Branch Committee elects the delegation but any member is welcome to put their name forward for election.

Self Organised Group Conferences for Women; Black Members; Disabled Members; Lesbian, Gay and Transexual memnbers are held nationally every year and the branch seeks to send delegates to each. We also send delegates to the National Young Members conference
