UIB Pre Paid Plus Card

The new Pre Paid Plus Card has been specifically introduced to help members who are experiencing difficulties during the current recession and credit crunch. This card provides all the convenience of having a credit card but without the risk of getting into debt and as there is no credit check all members are eligible for one. So whilst being a good product for all members it can be of particular benefit to low paid members and migrant workers and promotes financial inclusion. Now Transfer

A new service aimed at Polish Migrant Workers was featured in the Spring U magazine which offers them a very competitive rate when transferring money to Poland. This service was approved by UNISON’s migrant workers unit and it is hoped that the service can be expanded in the near future to include other countries such as the Philippines.

UIB Family Protection Insurance

Union Income Benefit (UIB) offer members Critical Illness cover, Life cover and Income Protection insurance. They are currently mailing members with an offer of £2,500 of free accidental death and disability insurance. If members want to take up this offer they can return a pre-paid card and UIB will then telephone them to arrange the cover.

UNISON Head Office has received a few enquiries about this so I would like to confirm that UNISON is not giving UIB any member’s telephone numbers. Members will only receive a telephone call if the member has returned the pre-paid card and included their telephone number on it themselves. UIB will offer members their other products but these are entirely optional and the free offer is not conditional on members signing up for any other cover.

Unsecured Personal Loans

UNISON is pleased to be able to confirm that from October 2009 UNISON will be offering members unsecured personal loans. We have received a lot of enquiries from members who are finding it hard to get loans due to the credit crunch. The new loans provider will be Secure Trust Bank and as well as offering competitive rates they also operate a responsible lending and debt management policy which was an essential requirement for any new supplier.

Loads of fantastic more offers

Last year we introduced a new section on the UNISONPlus pages of the website called ‘MORE OFFERS’ and this features companies that are offering services which we think are of benefit to members but who are not yet ready to be a fully fledged UNISONPlus provider. We will only include companies that meet the appropriate criteria to be a membership services supplier and can provide high standards of customer service. This has proved very successful and the Vauxhall Partners offer has been very popular with members.
