Teaching Assistants - Much too important to lose
The Secretary of State for Education has withdrawn funding for training Teaching Assistants. Please sign the online petition http://weneedtas.blogspot.com/ Petition to Michael Gove, Secretary of State for Education We urge the government to recognise that teaching assistants play a crucial role supporting children's learning and well being. Teaching assistants are a skilled and dedicated group of professionals who ensure teachers can focus on teaching. Research has shown a direct, positive link between a school's results and the number of teaching assistants it employs. Professional training for teaching assistants has never been more important, yet the government has axed its entire budget for teaching assistant training. This must be immediately restored. Teaching assistants are at the frontline of our education service, and their jobs must be protected along with teachers. Otherwise our children will pay the price of the economic crisis. |
