UNISON welcomes swine flu vaccination programme

UNISON, the UK's largest health union, today welcomed the start of the swine flu vaccination programme, urging its members to take up the vaccine, to protect themselves, their families, and patients.

UNISON Head of Nursing, Gail Adams, said:

“Giving NHS staff the swine flu vaccination is an important step towards making sure that health workers, their families, and patients are protected from the pandemic. This is a safe, single injection, that will be available to staff at different times of the day, to make sure it is easy for them to be vaccinated.

“UNISON, along with the Department of Health, has worked hard to make sure staff have all the information they need to make an informed decision, and we would urge them to take up this opportunity.”
